I was shopping for a phone and popped into Carphone Warehouse.

I got talking etc and the sales man informed that all the phones on pay as you go are unlocked. i.e. Non badged phones. They call them GENERIC....! I was shocked espically as they charge different prices for the same handset for airtime providers i.e. Virgin, Orange, O2 etc.
